:: 2017 Recap – A year full of changes, challenges and joy

2017 has been such an important year so full of everything life has to offer. Looking back I can’t believe it has only been one year. I started into this year without knowing what the future will bring and where I would be heading career wise. Really, I would have never thought that I would be sitting in Barcelona on the balcony of my shared flat at the end of December writing my yearly recap.

I feel so blessed for all the great travels that I got to do this year and all the many people that I have met throughout the year. You all made me a fuller and even happier person.

And to all those who brought a lot of messed up drama into my life this year. You made me stronger and more secure and confident of who I am and who I want to be.

January

January’s focus was on getting my blog and instagram business started on a more professional level than I have been doing before. A lot of emails, a lot of research, a lot of planning and BERLIN FASHION WEEK!

February

My favorite February memory is traveling with my best friend to Paris for the first time since about 15 years. We went full on touristy, attended one fashion show during Paris Fashion Week and got to stay at the most beautiful concept hotel. Thanks again to Paris Boutik for having us at your library inspired suite.

Also I kicked over all possible plans that I had for the next months and spontaneously applied to a university in Barcelona out of a 3 a.m. boredem moment. You all know how that went.

March

March was a more quiet month in Berlin. Though I got to try Kick Boxing for the very first time together with ODLO and a few blogger girls on the deck of cutest boat and loved it.

April

2017 had so much greatness, I couldn’t decide which month was my favorite but April is definitely high up on the list. I got to visit Vietnam after 4 years (I used to go there every 2 years when I was younger but I just didn’t manage during my fashion studies). I visited my family in Hanoi and went on a little road trip along a few beach towns down the coast. I always feel so inspired to discover Vietnam, the place where my parents were born and therefore somehow is such a big part of me though I was born and raised in Germany.

After Vietnam, I was back in Berlin for a few days just to leave for the next country: Portugal! I saw Lisboa for the first time and fell in love with the colors, patterns and details of its streets. Discovering even more of Portugal will definitely be a priority for next year!

Parallel to all that traveling I also have been working on the coolest project of the year. My iPhone Case Design for Stilnest! Lucia, Artem, Duncan, Tim, Anna and everyone involved – I can’t thank you enough for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. Apart from launching my very own product, I got to work with the loveliest people of all.

May

Back to relaxing and working in Berlin. Spring is my favorite season of the year – well spent with great people on a sunny day at the lake.

June

June is my birthday month. This year I went full on fan girling for the cute Caro Daur at the MAC Cosmetics event in Berlin on my birthday. Big love for strong independent working women like her!

Another project that I have been working on for the first half of the year was the fashion club at my former high school. I supported them as the main teacher and instructor and got to learn how great it feels to share knowledge and inspire curious minds with fashion. In June we set up a whole fashion show.  It was an amazing event,  leaving to say “what is even fashion week?”. Thanks to all students that participated – I had such an incredible time with you. But you probably realized that already when I started crying at the good byes. Most of all thank you Christo for getting me on board. You are one of the best and most inspiring people I know. I am so happy that we got to share this.

July

My first festival ever. The 20th edition of the Splash Hip Hop festival. It was EPIC. In every way. Take me back please.

August

My last month in Germany.

A strong opponent on the favorite month ranking. Again two travels. One to Basel to visit my lovely photographer friend Robertina. Crazy how we managed to fit sightseeing, a whole editorial photoshoot, a photoshoot for my blog and a trip to the Vitra museum into only two and a half days.

The other trip was one that I got invited to by the marketing department of the city itself: Hamburg. I went to see the beautiful German city for a weekend. We did an exciting program of sight seeing, vintage shopping, boat rides and food that tastes like heaven. But the highlight was the Ms Dockville festival. A festival full of art and lifestyle and a wide range of music genres.

The best part about August? I got asked to be a dancer in the German teen TV series Spotlight that airs on Nickelodeon Germany. An absolute dream come true, being part of a show that is shown on the same channel as my teenage favorites Victorious or iCarly! Even though it is such a small part, I made it into almost every episode. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Not to forget the people that I met on set or the ones which it brought me closer to. Samet, Vanessa, Nida, David, Lea, Ben – Love you guys!

September

Wow, my first month off living in a new country. I simply took the whole month to settle in, learn my way around and discovering the city (I went to so many museums…and to the beach). Again I got to know new people who quickly became important people in my life here. Sending love to Robin and Carla <3

October

University started in October and again so many new faces and so many new deep connections in such a short time! Love my girl squad. Four of us even went on a trip to Mallorca already at the end of October. This island holds so many more beautiful places than one could imagine. We already saw quite a few corners of it during our stay but it made me crave for more!

I also went to see Zaragoza. On the bus I met lovely Ena and found a great friend in her. So grateful that we got to discover the city together. <3

November

Apparently I am very lucky with my seating partner on busses. This time going to Girona, I met the sweet Mafalda – one of the most loving, curious and positive people that I met this year. Also I got blown away by the magical city of Girona. Walking its streets felt like a different world.

Dezember

This month I was lucky to get the best of both my worlds. I spent some beautiful “winter” days with blue skies and comfortable temperatures in Barcelona but also got to spent some amazing christmassy days and holidays in Berlin.

The first occasion that I went to Berlin for was my mum’s birthday. Her face when I surprised her at home is maybe the most precious memory this year. We spent a wonderful weekend together and watched the Blue Man Group Berlin show.

So all in all I had an amazing year. Through each of these months and events I learnt so much about myself. The move changed a lot. I think it made me even more of a free soul. Its vibrant atmosphere gave me new inspiration for my style and new love for fashion in general. Life is simply better at the beach 😀
